About

I’m very, very, Boston.

My great-grandfather immigrated to Boston 115 years ago and none of us has left. Myself? I compliment a corporate day job in an open office with time on open waters. My love of cooking, outside air and adventure guides me on a search of the most prized of culinary catches. Maine Lobster.

Lobstering in New England is a legacy trade. Generations pass on everything from equipment to secrets to help new fishermen and women. But Lobstering doesn’t have to be a commercial operation. Anyone can pull those prized creatures from the Northeast Atlantic. All you need is some basic equipment, a license and the patience to be disappointed on a regular basis.

For me, The Closet Lobsterman taps into aspirations suppressed by a lot of us. Sure, we’d love to quit our jobs and [insert hidden passion here]. But we can’t. And don’t. So, we fill our free time with fun creating memories for future smiles. Like all great hobbies, you learn new things lobstering. Like how plastic rope will float and get caught in propellers. Who knew?

There seems to be a mystical quality to Lobstering. How does it even work? Well, trust me sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. But lobsters aren’t born in tanks at the seafood counter. So I share how it happens here. Not a reality show. Just reality from an everyday guy with a kick-ass hobby. Hopefully, I will inspire you to try something new. And yes, they are even more delicious right out of the ocean.
